Month's Focus: Doing your Best and Careers
Pre-K & Kindergarten will explore different types of Jobs
1st-5th grader will be introduced to their grade level's career clusters (see career cluster tab for specific clusters covered in each grade)
October
Month's focus: Making a Difference and Personal Safety
October’s guidance lesson topic for all grade levels is personal safety. Using age-appropriate language and curriculum, we discuss different types of abuse as well as personal boundaries, rights, and privacy needs. Students will identify trusted adults they can talk to if they are in need of help.
September
Month's Focus: Friendship - Respecting Ourselves and Others
Pre-K-2nd Grade will discuss the importance of "filling each other's bucket" using kind and encouraging words.
3rd-5th grades will address the impact of our words and actions on others as well as the importance of standing up for others.
August
Month's Focus: Academics and starting the year off right.
Pre-K - 2nd grades focused on the importance of listening and following directions. We reviewed the 4 basic skills to listening:
1. STOP what you are doing
2. LOOK at the person talking
3. LISTEN to what the person is saying (which includes being quiet so you can hear) and
4. THINK about what the person said and what you must now do.
3rd and 4th grade classes participated in an "Academic Challenge" where we stressed the importance of organization and studying.
